File Permissions Explained
File permissions control who can read, write, or execute files on your server.
Common Permission Settings
- 644: Files (read/write for owner, read for others)
- 755: Folders (full access for owner, read/execute for others)
- 600: Private files (owner only)
- 777: Full access (not recommended for security)
Setting Permissions
In File Manager: Right-click file → "Change Permissions" → Enter numeric value (e.g., 644) → Save.
Via FTP: Right-click file → "File Permissions" → Set permissions.
Security Note
Never set files to 777 unless absolutely necessary. Use 644 for files and 755 for folders as a general rule.
